Elfrida Andrée's 'Die Fritjof-Saga' is an opera in three acts to a libretto by Selma Lagerlöf based on the verse epic by Esaias Tegnér. Ingeborg and Fritjof love each other, but Ingeborg's brother, King Helge, is against the union between the princess and the Viking. Instead, Helge promises Ingeborg's hand to the enemy king, Ring. Guatemi, Helge's queen, reveals that Ingeborg still loves the exiled Fritjof. Nevertheless, Ring takes Ingeborg as his wife. When Fritjof returns without finding Ingeborg, the situation between Helge and Fritjof escalates, resulting in widespread destruction. Performers:
