Josef Kajetán Grand Theatre

The historic building of the Great Theatre belongs to the most important historic cultural landmarks of the town. It was opened with the festive performance of Bedrich Smetana’s Libuše on 27th September 1902. Its architect was Antonín Balšánek and there were other artists who contributed to the rich decorations of this building. The main face of the building is dominated by sculptures on buttresses called Opera and Drama by Ladislav Šaloun, other sculptures were made by Stanislav Sucharda, Vilém Amort or Antonín Procházka.
