Rossini's 'Il barbiere di Siviglia' with Luongo, Stroppa, Barbera and Bordogna from Genoa
Rossini's 'Il barbiere di Siviglia' is an opera with an Italian libretto by Cesare Sterbini. The libretto was based on Pierre Beaumarchais's French comedy Le Barbier de Séville. In a public square outside Bartolo's house a band of musicians and a poor student named Lindoro are serenading, to no avail, the window of Rosina. Lindoro, who is really the young Count Almaviva in disguise, hopes to make the beautiful Rosina love him for himself – not his money. Almaviva pays off the musicians who then depart, leaving him to brood alone. Performers:
Figaro: Alessandro Luongo.
Rosina: Annalisa Stroppa.
Il Conte di Almaviva: René Barbera.
Don Bartolo: Paolo Bordogna.
Basilio: Giorgio Giuseppini.
Berta: Simona Di Capua.
Fiorello: Roberto Maietta.
Teatro Carlo Felice Choir and Orchestra. Conductor: Alvise Casellati.
