SWR Schwetzingen Festival. Johannes Kalitzke's 'Kapitän Nemos Bibliothek' (Captain Nemo's library) is an opera to a libretto by Julia Hochstenbach, based on the novel of the same name by Per Olov Enquist. Two little boys are growing up in a village in northern Sweden. Playmates who could hardly be more different: The mother of »Sunshine« Johannes is a cold, disreputable outsider, while the mother of the closed first-person narrator is well established in society. When the children are six years old, the Supreme Court rules that they were switched at birth. After being robbed from their family identity, they have to live with each other's mother. This violent act plunges those affected into unhappiness and madness. In the unbearable life situation, the first-person narrator finds refuge in his fantasy world. He dives into the library in Captain Nemo's submarine Nautilus, adapted from Jules Verne's novel The Mysterious Island. World premiere. Performers:
