Theatro Municipal Rio de Janeiro
In 1894, playwright Arthur Azevedo launched a campaign to have a theater was built to host a local company, to be created along the lines of the Comedie Française. But the campaign resulted in only a Municipal Law, which ordered the construction of the Municipal Theater. The law, however, was not met, despite the existence of a fee to finance the work. The new tax revenue was never used for the construction of the Theatre.
