Berg's 'Lulu' with Hannigan, von Otter, Pawlowsky and Lodahl from Hamburg
Berg's 'Lulu' is an opera in three acts by the composer Alban Berg. The German-language libretto was adapted by Berg himself from Frank Wedekind's two Lulu plays, Erdgeist (Earth Spirit, 1895) and Die Büchse der Pandora. It is late-19th-century Vienna. Lulu is married to Dr Göll, a physician. Lulu, who goes by the name Nelly, is having her portrait painted by Walter Schwarz, an artist who is in love with her. Dr Ludwig Schön, a newspaper editor and widower, and his son Alwa, a composer, are briefly present. Performers:
